APPEAL FOR GALWAY MEMBERS TO COME FORWARD AS CHILDREN’S CHARITY CELEBRATES 40 YEARS
Issued: March 11, 2010
Past and present members who have worked with Children in Hospital Ireland (CHI) from Galway and surrounding regions over four decades are invited to 40thanniversary celebrations of the national charity.
CHI is looking to meet with and reunite old friends who have assisted at University College Hospital Galway since the 1970s, when the organisation was known as the Association for the Welfare of Children in Hospital Ireland (AWCHI), in promoting support for parents, delivering play services for children, and fundraising.
Old and new members will reunite on March 29 at a hotel near University College Hospital Galway when Dympna McMahon, CHI Chairperson, and Claire Connaughton, CHI Volunteer Services Manager, will entertain them to afternoon tea.
Over the years, Tens of thousands of sick children in University College Hospital Galway have benefitted from the play and fun activities provided by CHI’s volunteers, who also provide invaluable support for parents.
“Our 40thanniversary provides us with an excellent opportunity to bring together people who shared many happy moments and great memories together, but who may not have seen each other or kept in touch in the passing years,” Claire Connaughton, CHI Volunteer Services Manager said.
Any members and friends of CHI interested in attending the gathering can call Children in Hospital Ireland at Lo call 1890 25 26 82.
