CHARITY ASKS WOMEN TO GET THEIR RUNNERS ON AND SUPPORT SICK CHILDREN
Issued 29/03/2010
Children in Hospital Ireland (CHI) is calling on women to shake out their shorts, lace up their runners and join the charity’s Team 40 to support sick children by running or walking the 2010 Flora Women’s Mini-Marathon in Dublin on Bank Holiday Monday, June 7th.
Funds raised this year, CHI’s 40thanniversary, will help the organisation’s 400 volunteers provide 40,000 hours of fun over the next 12 months for children in hospitals all around the country. The funds will also help CHI continue to provide much-needed and valuable support to parents during difficult and stressful times. The Women’s Mini-Marathon is the charity’s most important fundraising drive and CHI is appealing to any women interested in participating to call for a complementary fundraising pack.
“These are very tough times financially and the Flora Women’s Mini-Marathon is vital for Children in Hospital Ireland to allow us provide our volunteers with training, materials and toys that facilitate play for sick children who are upset and stressed because of their illness and stay in hospital,” Mary O’Connor, Children in Hospital Ireland Chief Executive Officer commented. Anyone interested in participating in the Mini-Marathon on the charity’s behalf can Locall 1890 252682 or e-mail info@childreninhospital.iefor their Mini-Marathon pack.
