APPEAL FOR WEXFORD MEMBERS TO COME FORWARD AS CHILDREN’S CHARITY CELEBRATES 40 YEARS
Children in Hospital Ireland is today, 20/04/2010, calling on past and present volunteers who have helped make Wexford Regional Hospital a happier place for children to join it in celebrating 40 years of the national charity.
The organisation is visiting Wexford on May 4 to mark its ruby anniversary in the presence of those who have allowed it deliver its PlayWell service in Wexford Regional Hospital. Past and present volunteers are invited to join Dympna McMahon, Children in Hospital Ireland (CHI) Chairperson, and Mary Long, Southern Area Volunteer Co-ordinator, at the Talbot Hotel, on the Quay, Wexford Town, at 7pm for a social gathering.
Fifteen volunteers are delivering a PlayWell service in Wexford Regional Hospital that is providing sick children with 38 hours of play every week over four days. CHI established the play service in the hospital in 2003, with hundreds of children benefitting from the thousands of hours of play that have been delivered in the seven years it has been present.
The gathering on May 4 is affording the organisation an opportunity to thank the local volunteers whose dedication and commitment has brought happiness to hundreds of sick children. They have also provided parents with invaluable support during very difficult and distressing times.
“Our 40thanniversary provides us with an excellent opportunity to bring together people who have shared many happy moments and great memories together, and have brought a lot of happiness and joy into children’s lives, during very distressing and stressful times for them,” Mary Long, Southern Area Volunteer Co-ordinator said.
Any members and friends of CHI interested in attending the gathering can call Children in Hospital Ireland at Lo call 1890 25 26 82.
