PlayWell Volunteer Service
Volunteers who want to help children in hospital and their parents provide a vital service and are warmly welcomed in hospitals!
Being in hospital can be a very stressful time for children, especially those under 5 years of age. Our service aims to take much of that stress away through the positive benefits of play.
Our trained volunteers organise fun activities in wards, playrooms and other hospital departments. They are active in 19 hospitals throughout Ireland and new groups are starting every year.
What does our PlayWell service do?
- Brings fun into hospitals
- Provides familiar play activities in an unfamiliar setting
- Helps children make friends
- Distracts children and makes them less nervous
- Allows children to work through their fears
- Helps children to get better faster
You can help make a hospital stay child's play by joining a PlayWell Volunteer Team.
If you are a mature, cheerful and reliable person, who loves children and if you can spare 2/3 hours once a week JOIN OUR TEAM!!
